Week 5: Busy Week

Week 5 was just as normal as any other week. As weeks go by i began to learn more and more skills and knowledge in this workshop. I was given the chance to help out in installing and managing the products that our company are selling! Although i could not fully install and do all the things myself, it was fun to help out and observe how my colleagues do things. 

I realized that the skills that we were going to learn in this ITP program were very important and useful. These skills are applicable to our lives once we graduate and start looking for a job. We could say that we have experience in this area and it gives a better head start. 

Skills that we learn through work and experience are totally different from what we learned from books, so practical learning and experience is needed to fully understand. 

Although we were quite busy this week, I still enjoyed learning new things everyday. I look forward to next week! 

Week 4 : Learning More About Brakes

This is end of the first month of my internship, it was quite fun and enjoyable working with the bunch of people around here. Every week was passing as per normal, repairing and servicing cars that come to BMS Motorsports. 

For this week, I would like to touch on Brakes. As our company is an official distributor of APi Brakes. There are 2 kinds of Brakes that we sell that are more common to our consumers. They are the APi Super 6 Brakekit and the APi Super 4 Brakekit. The main difference between the 2 brakekits is that one has 6 ports and one has 4 pots. The higher number of pots means more braking power.

Week 3 : Used to the Work Environment.

Week 3 was just as normal as any other weeks, just that i've grown closer to the people working there. My colleagues there were very very very friendly, they would not hesitate to answer any questions or enquiries that i have. 

Our company holds the official distribution rights for FOX Exhaust Systems in Asia. This week i witness the installation of one of the exhaust on a Volkswagen MK5 Golf GTI. 

This exhaust is approved by LTA [Mid Silencer Pipe & Quad Muffler].The 70 mm FOX Exhaust System (For VW Golf & Scirroco) with the new 80mm Muffler Tips.

Boss's Birthday

Another event this week was our BOSS's BIRTHDAY ! After we ended work, i followed a colleague of mine to buy a cake for our Boss. We suprised him at about 8.30pm, we even took a group photo with him! 

This pretty much sums up what i've been doing the entire week! I'm looking forward to Week 4 of my work! Time passes so fast that the first month of my work is almost over. 

Week 2 : Getting the Hang of It.

This is my post for the second week ! Work was going as per normal every single day, it was fun as i could learn new things everyday. For this week, the main thing that i learned was the drive shaft. 

The Drive Shaft Cover was commonly repaired in our workshop.

The Covers were commonly broken and needed a replacment. 

For this week, i also learned new things like dismantling the wheel so that we could replace the wheel bearing. Although i had been oberserving my colleagues changing the full set of timing belts for a few times this week, i'm still trying to understand and learn the steps.

In Conclusion, this weeks work was just as exciting as the first week. I would look forward to my 3rd Week at work! 

Week 1 : Learning the Basics

During the first day, I was introduced to the workers working there and had a brief look at the place there. BMS motorsports is located at AutoPoint Building in Ang Mo Kio. As it was my first day of work, I'm feeling quite nervous as to whether i could get along with the people working over there. The workers working there were very friendly, hence, there was nothing to worry about.

As it was only my first day at work, there was nothing i could help out or do. Before the internship started, my supervisor had instructed me to bring my laptop with me on my first day at work. He adviced me to research more on cars and the engines as i knew nothing about them. Although I'm working at a car workshop, the office was surprisingly clean! Every once in awhile after reading the net, i would go down and observe how they repair those cars. My supervisor also assigned me to a worker which i could learn some skills from in these 16 weeks. After the end of the first day, i was also told to buy safety shoes as there are tools and car parts lying on the floor in the workshop which are quite dangerous. 

I've learned some skills by the end of the first week. For example, changing of oil and oil filters, replacing spark plugs for cars and changing batterys. During this whole week, it was quite tiring although most of the time i was observing and assisting them. They would teach me skills bit by bit and helping me expand my knowledge on cars. 

Since young i was fascinated by the sight of cars so this ITP  was a really cool experience for me. Although it was very tiring, but i enjoyed working in this company and around the people here. I am excited about Week 2 and new skills that i could acquire from them !
